FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR CRITICAL MEDICAL SURGERIES FOR THE UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN
‘Little Hearts Let it Beat……’
Abhilasha Foundation works with the children from the most marginalized, economically deprived families to support them in their critical surgeries and cancer treatment. The parents usually do not have a huge amount of money to spend on the treatment of such surgeries. The organization sponsors treatment of these underprivileged children and helps them to get back to their normal lives. Poor children are in dire need of urgent heart surgeries and treatment and it is so heart wrenching for the parents to watch their kids dying as they are not so rich enough to save their child. Children are the basis for all dimensions of sustainable development. They have a right to thrive, develop to their full potential and live in a sustainable world. Not having an emergency fund can potentially be the start of a major financial crisis in the future, which can affect our ability to meet our day-to-day expenses and vital long-term financial goals.
Abhilasha Foundation acts like a bridge for these underprivileged children to get to the hospital for most needed heart surgeries and cancer treatment. Considering a birth prevalence of congenital heart disease as 9/1000, the estimated number of children born with congenital heart disease in India is more than 200,000 per year. Of these, about one-fifth are likely to have serious defect, requiring an intervention in the first year of life. Currently advanced cardiac care is available to only a minority of such children. A number of cardiac centers have been developed over the last 10 years. However, most are in the private sector, and are not geographically well-distributed. Challenges to pediatric cardiac care include financial constraints, health-seeking behavior of community, and lack of awareness. Over 50 children in the age group of one month to 14 years die of Cancer in India every day.
Abhilasha Foundation endeavours its goal of making the best surgeries possible for the underprivileged children by financially supporting the families who are waiting for the heart surgeries and cancer treatment In order to increase their life expectancy we have collaborated with prominent hospitals like Kamalnayan Bajaj Hospital & Marathwada Medical and Research Institute, Aurangabad, Balaji Heart Hospital and Diagnostic Centre, Mumbai, Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Pune, Vivekanand Medical Foundation & Research Centre, Latur, WOCKHARDT Hospitals Ltd., Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital & Research Centre, Mumbai, Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children, Mumbai, P D Hinduja National Hospital & Medical Research Centre etc. Abhilasha Foundation receives medical cases from various children’s hospital for their critical major surgeries and provides financial support for the patients who cannot afford any critical operations/critical illness/ support in medicines and help them to buy generic medicines.
